Video walkthrough
The video for this guide isn’t recorded yet. Every step it will show is written out below.
- 1. What connecting gives you
- 2. Finding your market
- 3. The verification form
- 4. Signing with your broker
- 5. Connecting the market
What it’s for
MLS listing data is licensed to MLS members, so every market has to confirm you before its listings can show in Uplevel. Once your market is connected, listings from the last two years sync into the MLS tab on Listings and stay current, and you can search them, match them to contacts and send listing alerts.
Connecting is optional. Everything else in Uplevel works without it, so connect when you're ready to work with listings.
Before you start
- Owner or admin access to the workspace. Others see the connected markets but can’t add one.
- Your real estate license number and license state, and your name exactly as it appears on your license.
- Your brokerage name, and your supervising broker’s name and email. Your broker signs the data license after you.
Steps
Step 1: Find your market
Go to Settings → MLS. Connected markets lists any market you already have. Available markets lists the ones Uplevel offers, each with its fees. Nothing is billed until a market is connected.
If yours isn't listed, it may be under Coming soon. Otherwise use Don't see your MLS? to tell us which one, and you'll get an email when it's available.
Step 2: Tell us who holds the license
Choose Add on your market. The form asks for:
- Your MLS membership: your legal full name exactly as licensed, your email, every MLS you belong to, your license number and license state, and your MLS agent ID if you have one.
- Your brokerage: the brokerage name, your supervising broker and their email.
- Supporting documents, optional: your real estate license and a broker authorization speed up the review.
Choose Submit for verification.
Step 3: Sign the data license with your broker
Uplevel files the data license request with your MLS's data platform. A signing link then arrives by email from notify@mlsgrid.com.
You sign first, then your broker counter-signs. Type your names and brokerage exactly as they were entered on the form. A mismatch sends the request back.
The market's row in Settings → MLS shows where the request is. If it's sent back, choose Update and resubmit, fix what it asks for and submit again.
Step 4: Connect the market
When your MLS approves, the row says Verified. Connect this market to start syncing listings. Choose Connect, then:
- Use my license to connect with your own MLS license number, or
- Create a new license for me to have Uplevel provide and manage the data license.
The market moves to Connected markets and says it's waiting for its first sync.
What happens next
The first sync brings in two years of listings, which can take a while for a large market. After that, changes arrive every few minutes.
Open Listings and choose the MLS tab to search them. A disconnected market stops showing in search, and reconnecting it later is quick because the listings stay cached.
If something’s off
- My request was sent back.
- Usually a name didn’t match the license or the signing exactly. The row says what to change; choose Update and resubmit.
- The signing email never arrived.
- Look for mail from notify@mlsgrid.com in spam and promotions. Your broker gets their link only after you sign.
- I belong to more than one MLS.
- Select every MLS you belong to on the form. Each one runs its own data license, so each is reviewed and connected separately.
- The page says MLS access is disabled.
- MLS has been turned off for this workspace. Contact support if that’s unexpected.
Ask Jan to do it
Jan is the assistant built into Uplevel. Type any of these into Ask Jan in your dashboard. Jan can’t submit the verification form or sign the data license for you. It opens Settings → MLS so you can.
- “Which MLS markets can I connect, and where is my verification?”
- Jan lists the markets Uplevel offers and where your workspace stands in each: connected, in review, sent back, verified or available to add.
- “Request my MLS. It’s not on the list.”
- Jan asks which MLS and records the request. You get an email when it’s available.
- “Find 3-bedroom homes under 800k in Ballard.”
- Once a market is connected, Jan searches it and shows matching listings as cards.
